DOUBLE WALL GLASS

考えたのは「ストレスのない普通のダブルウォールグラス」。
このDOUBLE WALL GLASSは、保冷／保温の機能を持った、これまでにないシャープなダブルウォールグラスです。ダブルウォールグラスに多く見られる“ボリューム感” や “構造を誇張する特有の形状” を極限まで抑えたデザインによって、機能に素直でストレスのないグラスが生まれました。

垂直に立ち上がるシルエットの二重構造は、保冷／保温の機能をそのままに、これまで以上に様々なシーンで違和感なく使用することを可能にします。またダブルウォールグラスにありがちな “ボリューム感” を排除するため、底面のRは内外ともに極限まで小さくしています。グラスとして最も大切な “口当たり” を違和感なくシャープにするため、口元に向かって緩やかに傾斜する滑らかな曲面からあらゆる細部に至るまで、徹底的にデザインし、内外の厚みを変えるなど今までにない革新的な工夫を施しています。
グラスに入れた氷は溶けにくく、放置しても結露することはありません。
温かい飲みものは冷めにくく、時間が経っても温かさを保持します。

このグラスは「デザイナー自身が使いたいものだけを充分な時間をかけて丁寧にカタチにする、日々の暮らしのなかでしっかりと使い尽くされる “道具”をつくる」というコブランドンセプトを掲げる LIFEWORKPRODUCTS との協業によって生まれました。

そのブランドコンセプトに基づき、「自らが使い尽くしたい道具」を見つけるため、自身の生活を日々観察するなかで辿り着いたのが “ストレスのない普通のダブルウォールグラス” でした。

夏の仕事中、アイスコーヒーの氷が溶け結露で濡れるデスク。
冬の仕事中、気づいたら冷めてしまった紅茶。
金属製ではどこか味気なく。ガラス製は丸いものばかり。
もっと普通のガラス製ダブルウォールがあっても良いのでは？
そういうものを”使いたい”。
そんな些細な気づきから、このDOUBLE WALL GLASSを企画、デザインしました。

The concept was a ‘stress-free, ordinary double wall glass’.

This DOUBLE WALL GLASS is an unprecedentedly sharp double wall glass with cooling/insulating functionality. By minimising the “bulkiness” and ‘distinctive shapes that emphasise structure’ often seen in double-wall glasses, a glass has been created that is straightforward in function and stress-free.

Its vertically rising silhouette with a double structure maintains its cooling and warming capabilities while enabling seamless use across more diverse scenarios than ever before. To eliminate the “bulkiness” often associated with double-walled glasses, the radius at the edge of base has been minimised to the absolute limit, both internally and externally. Furthermore, to achieve the sharp yet pleasant “mouthfeel” – the most crucial element in a glass – we have meticulously designed every detail. This incorporates innovative techniques such as a smooth curve gently sloping towards the rim and varying the thickness of the inner and outer glass walls.

Ice in the glass melts significantly slower than usual, preventing condensation on the glass.
Hot drinks retain their warmth longer, maintaining their temperature over time.

This DOUBLE WALL GLASS was created through collaboration with LIFEWORKPRODUCTS, whose brand concept is: ‘To meticulously shape only those items the designer themselves would wish to use, taking ample time, and to create “tools” that are thoroughly utilised in daily life.’
Based on that brand concept, in my daily observation of my own life to find ‘tools I myself would want to use until they were worn out’, I arrived at a ‘stress-free, ordinary double wall glass’.

During summer work, the desk damp with condensation from melting ice in iced coffee.
During winter work, tea that has gone cold before you realise.
Metal feels somehow impersonal. Glassware is invariably round.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a more ordinary double-walled glass?
That's the kind of thing I “want to use”.
From such a small observation, I conceived and designed this DOUBLE WALL GLASS.
